These past three years have been unlike any other time in most of our lives. We have come through a global pandemic, a divisive election, social injustice, a war in Ukraine (which borders Moldova where we have ministry as JMI and as a church), economic uncertainty with rising interest rates and the list goes on. Yet, we are at the start of a New Year. Not that 2023 will be perfect, but there is a good chance that we will return to some normalcy.
I pray this year is a time of renewal and healthy growth for you. Many of us make New Year’s Resolutions around areas like physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual health (you can see last year’s blog post for some helpful tips for making resolutions in these areas). And, I pray this will be a year you will grow deep roots in Christ and stronger in who He created you to be.
This is my prayer for you in 2023 and beyond. I pray you reach your full potential in the Lord. As you look at this Psalm 1, it is a beautiful picture of what God wants to do in your life. “Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither – whatever they do prospers.” Psalm 1:1-3
God wants you to grow strong, deep, and mature – like a tree planted by streams of water. What a beautiful picture of drinking deeply of God’s nourishment, bearing fruit in your family, career and life. And, knowing that God wants you to succeed and prosper.
To grow like this, here are three things to do each day: 1. Pray and meditate on God’s Word. – Pray and take a Daily Step (see reading plan here), Also, being at church and in a Small Group helps provide that nourishment for your soul. 2. Dedicate each day to the Lord. – Wake up as God’s servant ready to do His will. This is how you will bear much fruit by investing your life in the things that matter. Don’t get distracted by the trivial, but set your mind on the things above. 3. Trust in God’s Sovereign plan for your life. – God is the One who grows your life. You don’t have to understand it all, but know you are prospering if you are growing in Him. Life sometimes does not make sense, but allow God to grow, use and prosper you each day.
I pray this is your best year yet! I pray you prosper in everything you do. God is growing you and He is for you. Know that truth and live it. Be planted and grow strong and you will impact generations. May this year be the year you grow healthy and prosper in the goodness and grace of God. I am praying for you in 2023. Godspeed into this New Year! Blessings on you today!
