Congratulations, Graduates!

Congratulations to those who graduated from high school/college or received their masters! I am so proud of you. This is a big accomplishment. You have worked hard and God has blessed you with this amazing opportunity. This achievement will always be with you and will open many doors for you in the future. Always keep your head high and know that God has an amazing plan for your life.

As your pastor, I want to encourage you in five ways:

1. Keep God first in your life – God wants you to live your best life. Don’t get distracted by the way of the world and don’t get discouraged when you face challenges. God is with you and He is for you! As God said to Joshua, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever go.” Joshua 1:9. Keep your eyes on Jesus and His plan for your life.

2. Make wise decisions – Your life is a product of the decisions you make. As Solomon, in the Old Testament of the Bible, prayed and asked God for wisdom, I encourage you to do the same. The decision about what to study in college, what job to take, who to marry – are all important decisions and need prayer along with wisdom. Keep God first, seek wise counsel and make good decisions. You will do great in life, and your best days are still ahead.

3. Connect to a church – You will always have a church home here at Rolling Hills. When you are home from school, plug into the College/Young Adults group called “Thrive.” There is a Bible Study and different get-togethers. When you are off at college or working, find a church there and plugin. You have a lot to offer. You can make a difference. Jump in and get involved.

4. Surround yourself with godly people – You become like the people you hang out with the most. So, surround yourself with great people. If the friends you are hanging with are not good for you, be wise enough and bold enough to change friends. Be around people who help you grow in your faith and encourage you to be your best.

5. Love your family – You are moving from dependence to independence. During this time, your relationships with your parents, grandparents, and siblings go to a deeper and stronger level. Love them well. Text, call, and communicate through this changing time. These are the people who will always be there for you through the rest of your life. They sacrificed for you to go to school and have the opportunities you do. Develop new friendships, but keep loving your family.

Always know I am praying for you and here for you. This is such an exciting time, so cherish your accomplishment and know that God is just getting started with you. You have an incredible life ahead. Hold tight to your Heavenly Father. He loves you with an everlasting love. And, know you have a church family at Rolling Hills that loves you and is praying for you. We are proud of you! Congratulations and blessings on you in this next chapter of your amazing life.
