I love Christmas! Now, I am big on waiting until after Thanksgiving to move into the Christmas spirit – the Christmas music, movies, decorations and more. But, as soon as Thanksgiving is over and our family heads back to Birmingham and all other places, then it’s Game On! It is all Christmas and all the time. I love celebrating Jesus and I love my family. Christmas brings these two together like no other time of the year. It is special! And, I am all in.
One of my favorite parts of Christmas is putting up our Christmas tree. Lisa, my amazing wife, has done a great job collecting Christmas ornaments through the years. She has been very intentional with this. The amazing part is when we put our tree up, it is an opportunity to walk down memory lane and share stories with our kids. They love asking, “What is this one from?” Or, “Here I am!” Or, “I remember this.” It is so special. Through the years, we have collected so many that we now have two trees :).
Here are a few of my favorite Christmas ornaments that are on our tree right now. Each one tells a story about our family, and every year I feel so blessed. Thank You, Father!
Maybe this is a tradition you want to start. You can buy ornaments when you are on vacation to remember the places you have been. You can take family photos and have them made into ornaments. You can even make your own ornaments – our kids love doing this each year – with highlights of the year. You make them during the Christmas Holidays one year, and then they are ready for the next. It really is an amazing way to mark the high points in your family’s life.
I am so grateful for Christmas as we celebrate Jesus. He is the Christ (Messiah) of CHRISTmas, and our lives are forever changed by the goodness and grace of our God. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and truly experience the love and joy of this season. Our God is so good to us, and I hope you feel how loved you truly are. God has sent His Son, “to you.” Let’s remember and celebrate Jesus and the gift of family this Christmas! Love you all!
