Celebrating the God of Miracles this Easter

We have been in this incredible series at church, studying the Miracles of Jesus. Jesus did so many miracles in order for His disciples to believe and know He was truly the Son of God. A miracle comes when God peels back that thin veil that separates Heaven from Earth and moves in a supernatural way. Science can’t explain it, and it defies human logic. It can only be God.

Jesus did incredible miracles from turning water to wine (and not just a little wine, but 120-180 gallons of wine - and the best wine ever!) to heal a lame man and feed 5,000 men (probably more like 15,000 to 20,000 people) with only 5 loaves of bread and two fish. In fact, the apostle John writes, “Jesus performed many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His Name.” John 20:30-31. Jesus did, and still does, so many miracles, but Jesus’ greatest miracle of all was what we will celebrate together on Easter - His Resurrection from the dead. Our Jesus is alive!

What I have loved about this series is people sharing their miracle stories. Our God is truly at work in our lives today. People have shared about being healed physically, protection over the children, freedom from addiction, financial blessing at just the right time, winning the battle over pornography or another persistent sin. What is your miracle story? How have you seen God move in your life? I encourage you to take the time to write down what God has done in your life and then to share it with others. Give God the glory for what He is doing in your life.

I believe every day, our God is working miracles. As Christ-followers, we learn to look at life and not simply see “coincidences” but to see “God-incidences.” We see people healed physically and we can give the credit to the doctors or to a new medicine. But, it is our God who has provided healthcare for us, created the medicine and ultimately brought the healing. We learn to give the glory to the One to Whom we prayed and asked for the miracle. When we look at life this way, then we can experience peace knowing God is Sovereign over it all, and we can ultimately trust in HIm. He is our Provider and Sustainer. My life is in His hands.

Every day, when we wake up with breath in our lungs, food to eat, family and friends around us and hope in our hearts, we thank our God. He has given us life both physically and spiritually. Therefore, we want to live every day for Him. We pray He will use us to bless others and further His Kingdom. We thank Him for our joys and struggles, knowing that He is with us at all times. Our God is always at work, and where there is God, there is always hope. Whatever we face, we know our God is greater and a miracle is coming in His timing.

But the greatest miracle of all for each of us is when we come alive in Christ. Spiritually, we were all dead in our sins and transgressions. But while we were still sinners, God sent His Son for us. Salvation is not about what we have done but what Christ has done for us. When we had no hope, Jesus came to our rescue. The only thing we do is believe; Jesus does all the work. And, we receive all the benefits. Because of Jesus’ death on the cross, His burial and ultimately His Resurrection, we are now a “new creation” in Christ. “The old has gone and the new is here!” 2 Corinthians 5:17. You are a miracle! This is why we are so excited for Easter as we celebrate our Risen Savior and express our gratitude. Let’s worship our God of miracles.
