Wow! Only God! This week, we are celebrating 20 years as Rolling Hills Community Church. What an amazing journey and what an awesome God we serve. Think about this – 20 years ago we had 15 people meeting for a Bible Study in an apartment clubhouse on Thursday nights. 15 people! No building, no money, no staff. But, a really big God! The same God who was doing miracles in the Bible is the same God who is with us today and for the entire 20 years. This is His church. All glory to our great God!
I’m so thankful for the miracles we have seen. A leader in our church recently said, “I never saw miracles until I was at Rolling Hills.” There have been so many! When God provided a house in Moldova, before we ever had property here in the states, to become the “Grace House” in Moldova for teenage girls who have to leave the orphanage at 15 years old. When God allowed us to buy a multi-million dollar WareHouse on 13 acres just south of downtown Franklin when the church was only five years old and the average age of the congregation was 27 – only God! When God provided land and buildings for our Nolensville and Nashville campuses when we had nothing. I mean nothing. God has done miracle after miracle.
I’m so thankful for the lives that have been changed. Buildings and lands are simply tools to do the work of the Lord. The real work is transforming lives for His glory. To see Jesus changing lives is so encouraging and inspiring. So many stories of life-change right before our eyes. So many preschool, children, students, men, and women who have been touched, healed, served, and changed by the goodness and grace of God. All three of my children have committed their lives to Christ and been baptized at Rolling Hills. And, for this alone, I will be forever grateful. So many lives changed both here in Middle Tennessee, in Moldova, in the Amazon, and throughout the world. Only God!
I’m so thankful for all the people who have locked arms together and invested in making a difference for Christ Jesus in our day and generation. To serve our God with brothers and sisters in Christ is such an incredible joy. To serve Jesus every Sunday morning with close to a thousand volunteers in ministries throughout God’s church is awe-inspiring. To work so hard on mission trips, to build churches, schools, and greater communities. To be at summer camps, retreats, Father & Son Bowl, Daddy Daughter Ball, Wrapping Station, Feed My Starving Children, ShowerUp, 4:13 Strong, Path United, and see God impact countless lives for His glory. To be a part of a family of sold-out fellow Christ-followers whom I love. Only God!
And, I’m so thankful that our God is not finished. This is only the beginning. With what God did with 15 people and no staff or buildings, can you imagine what He can do with several thousand people, multiple staff, and committed lay leaders and multiple buildings? Can you imagine what God will do through His church at Rolling Hills and JMI today? Our best days are still ahead. I believe your best days as a Christ-follower are still ahead. Let’s go!
